Human Growth Hormone, or Somatropin, is a vital single-chain polypeptide hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland. Consisting of 191 amino acids, it is one of the five primary pituitary hormones, alongside ACTH, TSH, FSH, and LH. It serves as the fundamental driver for the rapid physical development and efficient metabolism characteristic of adolescence, directly influencing how the body synthesizes protein to create muscle mass, red blood cells, and organ tissue.

Biological Function and IGF-1
The body naturally releases HGH during deep sleep. Once it enters the bloodstream, it is transformed by the liver into Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). This specific compound is responsible for the majority of the physiological effects associated with growth hormone. While Somatropin is highly effective for fat loss and physical strengthening, its muscle-building impact is generally more moderate than that of traditional anabolic steroids.

Historical Evolution
HGH therapy began in 1958 using extracts from human cadavers. However, the FDA banned this method in 1985 due to its link to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). This led to the introduction of Somatrem, a synthetic version that, while effective, was not a perfect replica and often triggered antibody production. By 1987, the first bio-identical Somatropin was developed, matching the natural human amino acid sequence exactly. Most modern medical preparations now utilize this refined Somatropin.

Administration and Dosing
Somatropin is administered through either subcutaneous or intramuscular injections. For precision in dosing, 1 mg of somatropin is approximately equal to 3 International Units (IU). Standard protocols typically range from 0.03 IU to 0.06 IU per kilogram of body weight every 24 hours. To ensure stable levels, the total daily amount is usually divided into two separate injections.

Thyroid and Estrogen Management
Injected HGH typically only impacts thyroid function in children with growth retardation, and even then, fewer than half require supplementation. For adults, thyroid support is rarely necessary unless a blood test confirms a deficiency after at least three months of therapy. Additionally, users must be diligent about managing estrogen levels. It is recommended to choose compounds that do not easily aromatize or to utilize protective ancillaries such as Arimidex or Letrozole during a cycle.

Storage and Handling Requirements
The Somatropin molecule is exceptionally delicate and easily compromised. Authentic medicinal products must be stored in a controlled environment between 2°C and 8°C. When mixing the solution, it is critical never to shake the vial, as the fragile molecular structure can be broken down by agitation. Once reconstituted, the hormone should be used within 24 to 48 hours to maintain its full biological potency.
