Proviron 25 (generic name: Mesterolone) was one of the earliest drugs used in hormone replacement therapy, introduced by Schering in 1934. It is an androgenic steroid that closely resembles dihydrotestosterone (DHT), acting as a potent androgen with very weak anabolic effects.
