Decabol is an injectable preparation containing the active ingredient nandrolone decanoate. Nandrolone is used in the treatment of osteoporosis (i.e., bone degeneration) due to its positive influence on calcium metabolism and the increase in bone mass. It also has a positive effect on protein metabolism and is used where a protein deficiency exists, eg. during chronic debilitating diseases, after major surgery & severe trauma.

  Administration and Cycle Length

  Because the decanoate ester has a half-life of roughly 12 days, it is a slow-acting compound. It often takes several weeks to reach peak blood concentration. Most users run cycles of at least 12 to 16 weeks, as shorter durations often end just as the drug is becoming fully effective. Injections are typically split into two doses per week to keep blood levels as stable as possible.

  The Testosterone Base

  Running Nandrolone without a testosterone base is generally avoided. Because Nandrolone is highly suppressive to the HPTA, your natural testosterone will drop to near zero quickly. Adding a synthetic testosterone (like Enanthate or Cypionate) ensures that the body maintains essential functions that Nandrolone cannot support on its own, such as mood regulation and sexual health.

  Hormonal Management

  Managing this compound requires monitoring three distinct areas:

  Estrogen Control: Even though Nandrolone aromatizes at about 20% the rate of testosterone, estrogen levels can still rise. High estrogen can lead to water retention and gynecomastia. An aromatase inhibitor like Arimidex is used, but only when blood work or symptoms indicate it is necessary.

  Prolactin and Progesterone: Nandrolone can increase prolactin levels. This is often the actual cause of "Deca Dick" or lactation symptoms. Keeping estrogen in check often helps keep prolactin in check, but some keep P-5-P (a form of Vitamin B6) or Cabergoline on hand to manage these specific pathways.

  The PCT Gap: Because Decabol stays in your system for so long, you cannot start Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) immediately. If you start PCT while the drug is still clearing your system, the medications will be ineffective. Most protocols suggest waiting 21 to 28 days after the final injection before beginning recovery medications like Nolvadex or Clomid.

  Health Monitoring

  Given the impact on lipids (cholesterol) and potential cardiovascular strain, regular monitoring of blood pressure and blood lipids is essential. It is also common practice to stay hydrated and maintain a clean diet to mitigate the water retention that can sometimes occur with this specific preparation.
