Indirectly increases FSH and LH levels

Application

Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT) for natural testosterone recovery

1. Mechanism of Action

Clomid works by interacting with estrogen receptors in the brain (specifically the hypothalamus).

  • Hormonal Trigger: By blocking estrogen's negative feedback, it signals the body to increase the production of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH).
  • In Men: Increased LH travels to the testes, signaling them to begin producing natural testosterone again after a period of suppression.
  • In Women: The increase in FSH aids in the development of the egg follicle, supporting those with irregular or anovulatory cycles.

2. Use in Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT)

For male athletes, Clomid is a staple for restoring the HPTA (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Testicular Axis).

  • Standard Protocol: Most reports suggest a "front-loading" phase of 100mg daily for the first 5–10 days of PCT to jumpstart the system.
  • Comparison to Nolvadex: While both are SERMs, evidence suggests that Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) may be a more "pure" and efficient option. The pituitary requires higher amounts of GnRH (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone) when using Clomid to achieve the same LH stimulation compared to Nolvadex.
  • 19-nor Compounds (Deca/Tren): Clomid can help mitigate gynecomastia caused by progesterone-heavy substances. Since progesterone receptors are synthesized in response to estrogen, Clomid helps down-regulate these receptor sites.

3. Side Effects & Health Risks

Users should be aware of several potential side effects, ranging from mild to severe:

  • Common Symptoms: Headaches, hot flashes, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal or pelvic discomfort.
  • Vision Issues: A notable side effect unique to Clomid is blurred vision or "traces" in the visual field.
  • Liver Health: Similar to Nolvadex, Clomid has been linked in clinical trials to changes in liver enzyme levels. In rare cases, more severe conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver, and hepatic necrosis have been reported.
  • Women-Specific: Uterine bleeding and breast discomfort.
